Photo albums

Galleries on your site at /albums — and the password, proofing and download tools to hand a shoot to a client.

Albums, in the Content part of the sidebar, puts photo galleries on your site at /albums. You need the editor role or above, and a plan that includes albums.

Make an album

  1. 1Press New album, type a name and press Create album.
  2. 2Under Photos, press Upload photos or Add from library, or drag photos onto the album. Drag a photo to change the order.
  3. 3Choose a Layout: Grid, Masonry or Justified rows.
  4. 4Set Visibility to Published and save.
VisibilityWho sees it
DraftOnly your team.
PublishedEveryone. It is listed at /albums.
UnlistedAnyone with the link. It isn't listed at /albums, and search engines are asked to leave it out.
  • Use as cover chooses the album's cover. Without one, the first photo is used.
  • Edit caption writes the line shown under a photo in the full-screen viewer. Alt text belongs to the photo itself, in your media library.
  • Inside album places one album within another, so a wedding can hold the ceremony and the party. Albums nest up to four levels deep.
  • Translations holds the name, description and captions in your site's other languages.

Sharing with a client

Access & delivery decides who can open an album and what they can do with it — the tools a photographer needs to hand over a shoot.

  • Password — visitors type it before they see anything. It covers the albums inside this one too, and changing it asks everyone for the new one.
  • Proofing — visitors heart the photos they want and send their picks with their name and email. Picks arrive under Selections, where Copy file names gives you the list for your editing software.
  • Downloads — visitors save the originals one by one, or all at once as a ZIP of up to 1 GB. Originals carry no watermark.
  • Watermark — an image from your media library, drawn in the corner of every photo shown on the site.

Albums in posts and pages

In the editor, Insert album puts a published or unlisted album into a post or page: its first photos, with a link to the rest. On a landing page, add the Photo album section.

Limits

An album holds up to 500 photos, added up to 100 at a time. Your plan sets how many albums a site can have — drafts count too — and the photos count toward your storage.
