Writing and publishing content

Posts and pages are both written in the same editor, but they answer different questions. A post is dated, blog-shaped content — an update, an article, an announcement. A page is structure: an About page, a Contact page, anything that sits in your navigation rather than your feed. Reorganising pages needs the editor role or above, since it changes the shape of the site rather than adding to it.

Draft, schedule, publish

Every post and page starts as a draft, visible only in your dashboard. An author can write and save drafts but can't publish them — that needs an editor or above. Publishing can happen immediately, or you can set a future date and leave it scheduled; it goes live on its own within the hour of that time, even if nobody is signed in when it does.

The calendar

Calendar shows everything published and scheduled on a month grid, so gaps and pile-ups are easy to spot. Authors see their own posts; editors and above see everyone's, plus the pages. If your plan includes scheduled publishing, an editor can drag a scheduled post or page to another day to reschedule it — it keeps its time of day, and only days still ahead accept it.

Categories and tags

Tags are typed straight into the post form and created the first time you use them — no setup needed. Each one gets its own archive page and feed automatically.

Comments

If your plan includes comments, every one a visitor leaves is held for approval by default and shows up under Comments for a moderator to approve, mark as spam, or trash. Nothing appears on the live post until it's approved.

Media

Images and other files live in your Media library, shared across every post and page on the site. Anything you delete from a post stays in the library until you remove it there too.

Formulas and diagrams

Insert formula in the editor's toolbar writes mathematics in LaTeX, with a preview as you type. Tick On its own line for a centred, full-size formula between paragraphs; otherwise it sits inside the sentence. Double-click a formula in the text to change it. Insert diagram (Mermaid) adds a block of Mermaid code — a flowchart, a timeline, a sequence — that your site draws as a diagram.

Undo, trash, and search

• Every save keeps the words it replaced as a revision, so restoring an older version is itself just another save you can undo.
• Deleting sends a post or page to the trash and frees its address for reuse. It's recoverable for 30 days, after which it's removed for good.
• Visitors can search your published content from your site's /search page — nothing extra to turn on.
