Presentations
Make slide decks in the dashboard, share them on your site, present with notes or live with polls and quizzes, and use them in posts and courses.
Presentations puts slide decks on your site at /slides, played full screen with the slides moving on a click or an arrow key. Each slide is written in the same editor as your posts. Presentations is a module on your plan; themes of your own, PDFs, presenting live and polls and quizzes are each switched on by your plan as well.
Making a presentation
- 1Under Presentations, press New presentation, type a title and press Create presentation. It starts with a title slide.
- 2Press Add slide and choose a layout. The slides run down the left; the one you pick is edited in the middle, and its settings are on the right.
- 3Write the slide. Changes save themselves a moment after you type: the top of the list says All changes saved.
- 4Press Preview to see it as visitors will, then open Presentation settings, set Status to Published and press Save changes.
| Layout | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Title, Section header | A large centred heading with a line of text under it. |
| Title and text | A heading and your text, lists, images and tables. |
| Two columns | A heading over two columns of text. |
| Image left, Image right | A picture beside the text. |
| Full image | A picture filling the slide, with a caption. |
| Blank | Your text alone. |
- Show one point at a time reveals the slide's paragraphs and list items one click at a time.
- Hide this slide keeps a slide in the deck but skips it when it plays.
- Background colour and Background image override the theme for one slide; Transition changes how it arrives.
- Speaker notes are for you only: visitors never receive them.
- In the slide's menu, Put below the slide before stacks slides vertically, for detail a presenter can step into or skip.
Who can watch
In Presentation settings, Who can watch decides who sees a published presentation. A draft is only ever seen by your team, in Preview.
| Who can watch | Who sees it |
|---|---|
| Everyone | Anyone; it is listed at /slides and found by search engines. |
| Anyone with the link | Anyone you send the address to. It is not listed, and search engines are asked to leave it out. |
| Anyone with the password | Visitors who type the password you set. Their browser remembers it. |
| Paying members | Members of your site, as with a members-only post. Offered when your plan includes paid membership. |
| Course learners only | Learners of a course whose lecture shows the presentation, inside that lecture. |
Other websites may embed it lets another site show the presentation in a frame; your own site always can. Visitors may save it as a PDF adds Save as PDF under it: the browser lays out every slide on its own page and opens its print dialog, where visitors choose Save as PDF.
Themes
Choose a Theme in Presentation settings: eleven are built in. To give your presentations your own look, press Themes on the Presentations screen, then New theme: start from a built-in theme and set the heading and text fonts, the colours and a logo shown on every slide. Every font leads with a Persian face, so Persian slides read well whatever you choose.
Presenting
- 1Open the presentation and press Present.
- 2The presenter view shows the current slide, Up next, your notes and a clock. Move on with the arrow buttons, or click the slide and use the arrow keys.
- 3To show the audience a screen of its own, open Full screen from the presentation's page on your site.
Presenting live
With live presenting on your plan, press Go live in the presenter view. A six-digit code appears: the audience goes to /live on your site, types it, and follows your slides on their own phones or laptops as you move.
- 1On a slide, under Question, choose Poll or Quiz, write the question and its options, and for a quiz tick the right answer.
- 2When you reach the slide live, press Open question. The audience's phones show the options; answers count up beside each option in your presenter view.
- 3Press Close question to stop answers, and Show results to show everyone how the room answered, and the right answer of a quiz.
- 4Press End session when you finish. Sessions, on the presentation's screen, keeps every session with how each question was answered.
In posts and courses
- In a post or page, press Insert presentation in the editor's toolbar and choose a published presentation. Readers see what its Who can watch allows.
- In a course, open a lecture and choose a Presentation to show above its text. A presentation for Course learners only opens here, for the course's learners and on preview lectures.
