Deleting a website or your account

Only a website's owner can delete it. Download a backup first — once a website is erased, nothing of it can be brought back.

Deleting a website

1. 1Open the website's Settings and scroll down to Delete website.
2. 2Press Delete this website and type the website's address to confirm.
3. 3The website goes offline straight away, for visitors and for your whole team, and you get an email with the date it will be erased.

If customers still have active subscriptions in your shop, you're asked to cancel them first — Open subscriptions takes you there.

30 days to change your mind

For 30 days the website waits under Scheduled for deletion in My websites. Press Restore and it's back online exactly as it was. Until then, its address and custom domains stay reserved for you.

After 30 days it's erased for good: every page, post, file, order and member, its connected domains and its backup connection to Google Drive. Its address is then free for anyone.

What happens to your plan

A paid plan stops renewing as soon as you delete the website. Time you've already paid for isn't refunded automatically. Restoring a website still follows the rule of one free website per account.

Deleting your account

On your account page, press Delete my account. First, every website you own has to be deleted or handed to another owner under Users. We email you a link: open it within 24 hours, in the same browser and while signed in, and the account is gone.

• Your sign-in, your profile and your place on every website's team are removed.
• Posts you wrote on other people's websites stay there, without your name.
• Websites of yours still waiting out their 30 days are erased at once and can no longer be restored.
• This can't be undone.
