Paid membership
Keep your best posts and pages for paying members, and sell access through your shop.
Membership, in the Business part of the sidebar, keeps posts and pages for paying members. You need the editor role or above, and a plan that includes both membership and the shop: memberships are sold as shop products.
Set it up
- 1In your shop, create what people buy to become a member: a subscription, a one-time purchase, or both. See Setting up your shop.
- 2Open Membership and, under What makes a member, tick those products.
- 3Under Rules, set Days a one-time purchase lasts and Paragraphs everyone may read, then press Save.
- 4Open a post or page and, in the Paid membership card, turn on Paying members only.
Who counts as a member
- Buying any of the ticked products makes someone a member. There are no separate tiers.
- A subscription counts for as long as it's paid. A one-time purchase counts for the number of days you set, from the day it's paid.
- A refund or a cancellation ends membership straight away.
- The list on the same screen shows every current member and the date their membership runs until.
What visitors see
Non-members see the title, the excerpt and the opening paragraphs you allow — set 0 for the title and excerpt only. The rest is never sent to their browser. Below it, Keep reading with a membership offers a button for each published membership product, and a link for members to sign in.
Videos and presentations can be limited to members too, in their own visibility settings. A podcast's members-only episodes are set up separately, under Podcast — see Hosting a podcast.
