Setting up your shop
Add physical and digital products, set shipping and tax, and take orders from checkout to delivery.
Shop needs the editor role and a plan that includes it. Before your first sale, connect a payment method under payments and, for physical products, add a shipping method — physical products can't be bought until at least one exists.
Shop settings first
- Currency — one per shop. Changing it later doesn't convert your prices.
- Email new orders to — where order notifications go.
- Guest checkout — on, customers buy with just their email; off, they sign in with an emailed code first.
- Low-stock alert at — you're emailed once when a product drops to this number.
- Under Prices and tax, choose No tax shown or charged, Prices include tax or Tax added at checkout, with a name such as VAT, a Rate (%) and optional Rates by country.
Under Shipping, press New method for a Flat rate or a free Pickup, with an optional Free from amount and a list of countries it's offered in.
Add a product
- 1Press New product, choose Physical or Digital, and press Create product.
- 2On Details, add the Title, Summary and up to 12 Pictures — the first is the cover — and pick a category.
- 3On Price & stock, add Options such as Size or Colour and press Update variants. Each variant gets its own Price, optional Was price, Stock and SKU. Leave stock empty for unlimited.
- 4For a digital product, upload its files on Files — up to 10, 50 MB each. Buyers get download links on their order page and in their email.
- 5Press Publish.
Orders
Orders opens on To do. Press Mark as shipped with the Carrier and Tracking number — for known carriers the tracking link is built for you — and tick Email the customer. Then Mark as completed. Customers follow their orders under Orders in their account.
Cancel order returns the stock and emails the customer. If the order was paid, refund it in your payment provider, then mark it refunded under Payments.
More you can do
- Subscriptions — sell a product monthly or yearly. Stripe only, with its webhook set up; a subscription is checked out on its own and can't use a coupon. Every renewal becomes an order.
- Also unlocks courses — buying the product enrols the customer in the courses you pick.
- Reviews — let buyers review products, and choose whether you approve them first.
- Import — bring products in from a WooCommerce CSV or XML export, or a spreadsheet in the shop's own format (Export gives you an example). Files up to 9 MB; products are matched by their address, and stock in the file replaces yours.
- Google Merchant feed — copy its address from Shop settings to list your products on Google Shopping.
